    John Greer on our hidden nature, Baha'u'llah's teaching "Man is my Mystery." & our true 'Personality.'

    “Just as an eyeball cannot see itself, you can’t see or conceptually know your true nature. You can only BE it.” – John Greer

    from his wonderful book – ‘Seeing, Knowing, Being: A Guide to Sacred Awakenings’

    It reminded me of where Baha’u’llah says in speaking of the nature of man;

    “All these names and attributes are applicable to him. Even as He hath said: “Man is My mystery, and I am his mystery.” …….. ……….Again He saith: “And also in your own selves: will ye not, then, behold the signs of God?” And yet again He revealeth: “And be ye not like those who forget God, and whom He hath therefore caused to forget their own selves.” ……..: “He hath known God who hath known himself.” “- Gleanings XC

    For me this means that our True Self, and enduring personality, is the unique admixture of names, attributes and characteristics of God that we have so far managed to reflect in the mirror of our being.

    This ‘true personality’ means that there is a positive self ‘as well as’ an ego that can disappear like a drop into an Ocean.
